New ATTAIN labs open - Binghamton, NY
Thursday, October 23, 2008

Assembly Member Donna Lupardo hosted the opening of the new Advanced Technology Training and Information Networking (ATTAIN) labs at the Broome County Urban League Technology Center and the Binghamton Housing Authority's Carlisle Hills community in Binghamton, New York today.

The ATTAIN labs are a network of technology labs located across New York State. Each lab provides expanded workforce development programs, academic programs as well as technology access. The implementation of ATTAIN labs in Binghamton will enhance the already existing programs being offered and will benefit the community by now being able to offer free instruction and certifications.

The ATTAIN labs offer technology training at no cost to the community, and in particular to the community's Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) population. The ATTAIN lab offers over 30 interactive occupational, academic, life skills and ESL courses as well as continuing to offer Digital Literacy and Microsoft Unlimited Potential curricula.

In addition to offering premium workforce competency programs, the goal is to offer free Microsoft certifications such as Microsoft Office Specialist. Each ATTAIN lab is equipped with personal computers, network printer, and Video Teleconferencing to encourage e-learning and geographic partnerships for education.
